Praise for Moray College UHI HNC sports students.

A group of Moray College UHI Sports students received praise for their work supporting North Region Schools football tournament for pupils with additional support needs in Aberdeen

Moray College HNC Sports coaching and development recently ran a disability football festival at Aberdeen Sports village and received some outstanding praise for their input from Claire McDonald Regional Development Manager – (Grampian), Scottish Disability Sport: ‘I was so impressed by the students I felt it only right to get in touch and highlight their professionalism. The students enthusiasm and organisational skills were outstanding. Yvonne Alexander their unit lecturer should be very proud of them all. Following the event the feedback from the schools echo my words so a big thank you and well done to all involved’

Moray College UHI Sports students have been supporting the festival for the past 4 years by supporting the North Region Schools football tournament for pupils with additional support needs in Aberdeen. The students undertake this as part of their course, however have on all occasions performed over the above what is required.

For this year’s tournament, for example the students organised and ran the whole event, by arranging all the publicity materials, fixtures, timings, refereeing schedule, scorecards etc prior to the tournament and coped admirably with challenges including a suspected broken ankle, a team not turning up, and a team who were thrashing the rest of the teams!!

Yvonne Alexander, Sports Lecturer  ‘ The students were a credit to the college and the teachers from Fraserburgh Academy and Cordyce school congratulated them for an excellent tournament. The students all had fun whilst they were learning about partnership working, committee responsibilities, planning and organising skills, refereeing and communication skills. I was a very proud lecturer’
