All courses are offered at our main campus on Moray Street unless otherwise stated.

Our short courses and leisure classes are a great way for you to learn a new skill, turn a hobby into a money earner or even take the first step on the road to achieving a new qualification.

A beginner’s class to learn basic spoken and written Arabic. This class is also designed to give you an opportunity to explore the Arabic and Middle Eastern culture.

No experience required.

As part of this 6-week course you will learn the basic Photoshop skills to edit your images.

  • Clone stamp tool

  • Working with layers

You will be given access to a computer with Photoshop and Lightroom software.

One class will be dedicated to Lightroom.

This evening foundation course will give you the confidence to talk in the following topics:

You will also learn about French traditions and local customs as well as the basic language. You will try authentic French food recipes for homework and original songs with lyrics.

Photography - Let's Take Better Pictures

Let’s take better pictures is an 8 week course on how to start taking control of your camera and start shooting in aperture priority, shutter priority and manual.

You will learn about ISO, aperture and shutter speeds, you will also learn about focusing and how flash can improve your images.

By the time the 8 weeks are finished you will be in control of your camera and taking better pictures.

What happens in Heritage

‘What happens in Heritage: Explore beyond the glass case and discover how the past is preserved’; ‘Caring for the past: what happens in heritage.’

An informative course designed to explore how historic artefacts are looked after and managed in museums and historic buildings.

This unique course will be delivered in a flexible, friendly format designed to help develop your knowledge and understanding of caring for collections.

The knowledge gained through this course can even be extended to use in your own home with an opportunity to ask the tutor specialist conservation advice as well as understanding how precious national collections are cared for.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) update content

Coronavirus (COVID-19) update

Our priority is to provide a safe learning environment for all students and staff. We will continue to review government guidance as lockdown measures shift over the next few months and will inform you of any further changes to the information provided about your course. On-campus activities, practical sessions and placements will be in line with the developing Scottish Government public health measures and guidance, including social distancing.

In response to coronavirus (COVID-19) we are implementing the following measures to ensure the safety of our staff, students and visitors:

  • Classes will take place in rooms with plenty of ventilation
  • Reduced class sizes of 9 students (6 for art classes)
  • Students will be required to complete a COVID-19 questionnaire on commencement of the course
  • Social distancing will be maintained throughout
  • Touch points are wiped frequently and hand sanitiser available throughout the building
