Moray Apprentices bring home Gold and Silver in National Competition

Two of Moray College UHI apprentices took part in the National Finals of the Worldskills UK Competition at the NEC, Birmingham last week.

More than 500 apprentices and students competed in over 70 different disciplines – battling to be the best in the UK. 

The Worldskills Competition is an annual event which brings together talents from across industry sectors aimed at highlighting career opportunities for young people with the individual skill competitions at the heart of the show.

Lewis Sim, employed by McDonald & Munro as an Electrical Installation Apprentice, was awarded the SkillELECTRIC Silver Medal after being put through his paces and completing a practical task set to a strict timescale and rigorous marking criteria.

Connor Cruden, Plumbing Apprentice at the college and employed by Gary Cowie, won Gold and was crowned SkillPLUMB Champion. Connor will now be considered for selection for the Worldskills Competition known as the "Skills Olympics" to be held in Shanghai. The squad for WorldSkills Shanghai 2021 will be announced early December.
