NQ Sports and Fitness Students win business award

2 students from Moray College UHI who are currently studying on the NQ Sports and Fitness award have won the Best Social Enterprise award in the UHI Business Awards

Kyle Smith and Kyle Edwards won the award for their Parkour and free running club which has been running for 3 years. Starting from just 10 students on one night, the popularity has grown and the club now runs three evenings per week with over 60 participants.

The students beat an outstanding 150 applicants to reach the final 15. As part of the competition they had to pitch their business plan (Dragons den style) to 3 Judges from varying business backgrounds. Despite this nerve wracking experience the students did tremendously well.

Both students previously started a full time course at Moray College but due to personal circumstances for both they were unable to complete it. They have now returned to full time education making this award extra special.

Kelly McLaren, Sports Lecturer: ‘The students did so well on the night and their award is well deserved. As their lecturer I am so proud of them and the confidence they have built over the years to enable them to enter and successfully win an award. They have turned their passion for parkour and free running into a sustainable business’

The students win a £1000 plus a coaching package from the Social Enterprise Academy.
