Induction

content

We hope that you are excited about starting your course and looking forward to this new challenge. The first few weeks of study are important. This page will provide all the information you need to hit the ground running and what to expect from your induction.

You will receive an induction letter at the end of July advising you of your start date and time, how to enrol online and how to apply for funding (if applicable).

During induction, you'll receive:

  • An introduction to your Learning Development Worker (LDW) or Personal Academic Tutor (PAT), depending on your level of study. Your LDW/PAT will provide you with academic support throughout the duration of your studies. Your LDW/PAT is your key point of contact and is there to help you succeed in your studies and will signpost you to any support you require.
  • Further information about your course including your timetable. You'll also meet staff delivering your course.
  • An introduction to our ICT systems, learning platforms, campus building(s) and facilities.
  • You will also receive an introduction to The Study Bar, our one stop shop for study skills, our Library and our Student Services Centre.

From term times to graduation, our academic calendar lists the key dates to note in your diary during your academic year.

Library inductions

We will be running 3 online drop-in library induction sessions per week throughout September. Please check your student email for further information or speak to your lecturer.

These sessions aim at giving students an overview on how to find, reserve and collect resources from the library. If you are a further education student your LDW will also give you a tour of the library during your induction.
