Out of the Darkness Theatre Company

We are in a unique position to be able to offer prospective performers, writers and musicians to embed their studies within Out of the Darkness Theatre Company, Elgin’s professional theatre organisation.

Established since 1992, Out of the Darkness Theatre Company (ODTC) is a local theatre company in Elgin, who create and perform an inclusive and engaging programme of theatre and training.

Our partnership sees ODTC deliver our performing and creative arts courses which prepare students for creative careers in their specific art forms or alternative employment within arts management, teaching and social professions. When you study a performing and creative arts course with us, you get to enjoy all our campus facilities with the expertise and support of ODTC.

Students benefit from real work experience opportunities throughout their studies. The annual Pantomime sees students plan, produce, and perform in their own musical theatre production. ODTC’s strong industry links with organisations such as Findhorn Bay Arts and Frozen Charlotte allow students to practice their skills in various events and plays across Moray.

ODTC organise workshops and masterclasses with industry professionals, meaning our students have been able to develop their skills with the likes of Broadway and Westend star, Kerry Ellis.

Our graduates have continued on into successful careers; Brodie Young has won awards in the Monthly Indie Short Festival and Lewie Watson was a nominee at the 'Scots Performer of the Year’ in the Scots Language Awards.

Our courses can be a great stepping stone to a creative career, but they will also prepare you with transferrable skills and help you build self-confidence whether you're leaving school, starting a job, or just for your own personal development.
