Continued success for Moray College UHI’s Sector Based Work Academy in Customer Care

Issued 17 September 2012

Following the success of Scotland’s first ‘Sector Based Work Academy in Customer Care’ in March 2012, Moray College UHI has delivered another academy session designed to support jobseekers in Moray into employment.

The course aims to prepare the students sufficiently to secure an interview with Capita for vacancies on their Mark & Spencer contract.  This session delivered on site at Capita gave students a full understanding of the business and 9 students the opportunity to achieve a place on the sought after interview shortlist.

Liz Robertson, Training Co-ordinator from Moray College UHI said, “Once again we enjoyed having the opportunity to support jobseekers, helping them improve their skills, their confidence and then successfully secure a job interview.  We also continue to receive great feedback from the students, which is always very encouraging.”

Another group of jobseekers will have the chance to join the next Sector Based Work Academy starting 24th September, 2012.  There will be an Information Day at JobcentrePlus in Elgin, between 10.00 am and 12.00 pm, 18th September 2012 to attract new recruits.

Derek Cairns of Skills Development Scotland added “We are delighted to support this innovative programme which is geared towards supporting young people in Moray. The programme has been designed to equip them with skills relevant to local job opportunities.”

Moray College UHI, Skills Development Scotland and JobcentrePlus worked in partnership to create this course and provide this skills development opportunity.  Funding has been provided through Training for Work, which is a Skills Development Scotland contract.
