Why did you choose UHI Moray?

It was the only University in Scotland offering a course I could progress to from my previous studies which was Wellness Therapies level 7 at Edinburgh College.

When you started your studies, did you have a clear idea on your career path?

I wanted to be a massage therapist but now I would like to be an educator. I would like to run own massage academy, teaching massage and progress further with studies with a Masters in Research or PhD.

How do you feel your studies have helped you with your career?

I am a better therapist as I understand people more through the research for dissertation. Better understanding what people value when going for a massage.

I’ve always felt that to click with someone there has to be a mutual likeness, my dissertation made me more aware. People want to feel listened to, understood, and safe.

How do you feel this course has developed your knowledge and skills?

This course made a massive difference, I was able to develop academically and as a therapist and as a person.

I’ve become more self-aware and using knowledge particularly from my dissertation really gave me a much greater insight into people's individual needs and improved me as a therapist.

How did you find the support your received during your studies?

Everything was fine and I was used to online learning after we had to go online during COVID. However, in year 4 as its was 100% online I did struggle with that and felt isolated and lonely at some times and it would have been good to have had a bit more peer support. However, this was also difficult as everyone is so busy.

I did speak to the lecturers about how I was feeling and that helped.

Lastly, what are the highlights of studying at UHI Moray?

Making friends for life and all the support I received
