Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) combine work with study, so you can earn while you learn. SVQs are undertaken by employees in their workplace environment where you will collect and submit evidence, usually from your own work. Explore our full range of SVQs.

SVQ in Healthcare Support - Clinical (SCQF Level 7)

This award will allow a Healthcare Support worker to demonstrate competence and knowledge while gaining recognition for their level of work.

This qualification covers areas such as promoting effective communication in a healthcare environment; maintaining health, safety and security practices within a health setting; and developing your practice through reflection and learning.

SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare (SCQF Level 6) content

SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare (SCQF Level 6)

SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare (SCQF Level 6)

This SVQ allows candidates to demonstrate competence in job related skills in their particular area of work. This qualification has been designed in partnership with the Sector Skills Council: Skills for Care and Development to ensure relevance to the sector.

This qualification covers areas such as support effective communication; support the health and safety of yourself and individuals; develop your own knowledge and practice; and support the safeguarding of individuals.

This SVQ is suitable for individuals who are currently in employment who wish to obtain a formal qualification and who are employed in the health and social care sector in a supervisory role.

This qualification covers areas such as promote effective communication; promote health, safety and security in the work setting; develop your practice through reflection and learning; and promote the safeguarding of individuals.

This course will develop the skills and knowledge you have gained working in a care setting. This qualification is mandatory for those employed in senior and/or management positions within the adult care sector.

This qualification covers areas such as continuing professional development of self and others; develop and maintain healthy and safe practices in the workplace; promote and maintain effective systems for communication; and promote the well-being and protection of all individuals.

SVQ in Hairdressing (SCQF Level 5)

SVQ in Hairdressing (SCQF Level 5)

This course will provide a firm foundation for building the skills and knowledge required to pursue a career in hairdressing.

You will look at various aspects of hairdressing such as styling hair, cutting hair, colouring hair, consulting with clients, plus core skills of communication, numeracy, ICT, problem solving and working with others.

On successful completion you may be able to progress onto another SVQ in Hairdressing at SCQF Level 6 or enter employment within the Hairdressing industry.
