Stories with Impact: Moray Sector Based Work Academy Programme

In partnership with Enable Works, our employability team support individuals through the Moray Sector Based Work Academy Programme (SWAP). We caught up with them to learn more about their Moray Sector Based Work Academy Programme and the impact it has had.

Hi team, what is the Moray Sector Based Work Academy Programme?

Moray SWAP was designed to bridge the gap between education, industry, and learners. It offers tailored training packages that align individual skills and interests with local labour market needs, helping participants gain recognised qualifications and practical experience.

What sets Moray SWAP apart is its employer-led approach. By fostering strong relationships with local businesses, we ensure that our programmes are responsive to real-world industry demands. This collaboration enables us to co-design curriculum content, provide meaningful work placements, and equip learners with both technical and soft skills needed to thrive in the workplace.

What has been the impact from the project?

The impact of Moray SWAP has been amazing for many reasons:

Stronger employer engagement with organisations including the Chivas Brothers playing a central role, from interviewing candidates to offering placements and mentoring.

College staff now have deeper insights into industry needs, allowing them to shape learning experiences that are directly relevant to local job markets.

Participants have gained confidence, built professional relationships, and earned qualifications that enhance their employability.

Promoting diversity by attracting more young people and increase female representation in the industry.

What’s next?

Looking ahead, we’re committed to expanding the reach and impact of Moray SWAP. At the heart will remain the collaboration with local employers and partners to ensure we remain agile and aligned with the needs of industry, including green energy initiatives.

We have just launched our new project “In-Work Upskilling” which aims to help underemployed make the most of their skills and capabilities in the workplace.
