Student creates educational exhibit at Morayvia

BSc (Hons) Interactive Media student Philip Foster has created an educational exhibit at Morayvia for visitors to experience an interactive self-guide to help explain the role and complexity of the Nimrod Aircraft and the Maritime Patrol Aircraft.

Philip (student) and David (Morayvia)

As part of his dissertation, Philip who is an ex-RAF serviceman was tasked by Morayvia to create a display area that is accessible and ‘alive’ for the public to see the aircraft in action. By creating a 3-Dimensional experience, visitors will be immersed in the environment allowing them to explore the science and technology of these aircraft.

David Brown, Morayvia said: “Philip made a rough proposal and went off to find out how he could make it work, constantly sharing his ideas and adjusting expectations as we all discovered not just the complexity but also further possibilities of the project.”

The BSc (Hons) Interactive Media degree available at Moray College UHI encourages students’ creativity and entrepreneurship whilst giving them the solid theoretical and technical understanding they need to succeed in employment. By working with live briefs the students are able to use their skills and knowledge to come up with real solutions in line with the businesses requirements.

Philip said: “With the help and support of my family, friends, and my academic supervisor, Dr Malcolm Clark, I was able to provide Morayvia with an interactive system describing the role of Maritime Patrol Aircraft. This was a culmination of all the skills gained over previous years which I feel is a credit to the support of all the lecturers in the computing department at Moray College UHI.”
