College welcome Career Ready interns

Moray College UHI are welcoming their first intake of Career Ready interns.

Isabelle and Emma - Career Ready Interns

Isabelle Drummond from Lossiemouth High School and Emma Winchester from Speyside High School will be spending 4 weeks working with various departments within the College including the Administration Centre, Marketing Department, Student Services and Finance.

Career Ready is a national charity which links schools with employers to prepare young people for the world of work and provides mentoring, workplace visits and paid internships.

The experience will give the interns an overview of the college and how it operates as well as a valuable insight into working in industry.

Jacqui Taylor, Head of Marketing and External Relations at Moray College UHI said “we are delighted and honoured to play our part in supporting young people through the Career Ready structure. We have designed their programme to ensure that they can gain some real hands on experience while with us. The experience they gain will support Emma and Isabelle to gain in confidence and improve a range of skills”.

Emma and Isabelle have been mentored by other staff at the college over the last year and following the completion of their internship they will continue to be mentored for another year prior to leaving school. The role of the mentor is to be the student’s guide, sounding board and critical friend. Mentors have the opportunity to unlock the students potential and help them flourish as they start their journey from education to the workplace.
