What is special about this course?

This part time evening course is a combination of 3 units where you will learn background knowledge on skin and nail health and also how to care for nail enhancements.

This part time evening course is a combination of 3 units where you will learn background knowledge on skin and nail health and also how to care for nail enhancements.

You will also learn current techniques including how to apply gel polish correctly, fit forms and tips properly and apply hard gel and acrylic.

You will gain a solid foundation of knowledge and practical skills to facilitate career development as a Nail Technician.

Entry requirements

Three National 4s, one of which must be English

or

satisfactory attainment of a SCQF Level 4 course.

You must be 16 years and above due to use of chemical products throughout the course.

Applications are encouraged from mature students who do not possess formal qualifications but have the skills to meet the academic demands of the course.

Course content includes:

• Manicure Treatments - With Traditional and Gel Polish
• Liquid and Powder Enhancements
• UV Gel Enhancements


The above units are inclusive of related anatomy, physiology, health & safety and marketing elements.

You must work and be worked on to practice all treatments prior to working on fee paying clients.

Equipment

Kit lists will be made available at the start of the course. (Kit prices are to be confirmed for the next academic year.) Once purchased you will be able to use for home practice.

From August/September 2021, it is our intention that physical campuses will be open to all students for access to study facilities, support services and social activities, subject to Scottish Government guidance. Our priority is to provide a safe learning environment for all students and staff. How long will my course last?


1 Academic Year

Part time: 1 evening a week for 3 hours over 1 year

Times: Between 6pm and 9pm

£264 plus kit costs

If you are in receipt of tax credits or similar benefits you may be entitled to a fee waiver. You would need your tax credit (or similar) award as evidence
