What is special about this course?
Designed to build a sound basis of knowledge and practical skills to facilitate career development as a Nail Technician, this evening course will allow you to:
- learn background knowledge on skin and nail health
- Develop skills in care for nail enhancements.
- learn manicure skills and gel polish application
- explore current techniques in advanced gel application (builder in a bottle)
apply hard/acrygel.

Entry requirements
- Three National 4s (including English) OR
A SCQF Level 4 course
Applications are encouraged from prospective students without the standard entry requirements as listed above
You must be 16 years and above due to use of chemical products throughout the course.
Course content includes:
• Manicure Treatments with Gel Polish
• Advanced Gel Applications (B.I.A.B)
• UV Gel Enhancements
The above units are inclusive of related anatomy, physiology, health & safety and marketing elements.
You must work and be worked on to practice all treatments prior to working on fee paying clients.

How will I study my course?

This is a practical based course with face-to-face practical classes on campus supplemented with our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
How long will my course last?
1 YearPart time: 1 evening a week for 3 hours
Times: Between 6pm and 9pm
Course cost: £264 plus kit cost
If you are in receipt of tax credits or similar benefits you may be entitled to a fee waiver. You would need your tax credit (or similar) award as evidence

Additional costs
You will be required to purchase a kit as part of this course – approximately £238. The uniform consists of a tunic and apron at £48 and Shoes at £40 (optional). If you are eligible for funding these kit costs may be covered. Once purchased you will be able to use the kit for home practice.
You must also work and be worked on for all practical units.
What can I do on completion of my course?
On successful completion of this course you can enter employment as a Nail Technician.
