Science in Polish

Local school pupils from Polish families have been given the opportunity to learn science in Polish.  Sylwia Kaniowska Science lecturer at Moray College UHI came up with the idea to invite children aged between 8-11 to come along to a science class at the college.

Sylwia said: “As a STEM ambassador I wanted to promote STEM subjects in a different way and thought this was an opportunity for children to engage in science and improve their language and communication skills at the same time”.

Children learned about the STEM program and carried out fun experiments investigating different types of yeast allowing them to understand carbon dioxide and oxygen properties, why cakes rise and observe a volcano eruption.

After the success of the first session, Sylwia with support from Moray College UHI Science department ran another class for a different group of children.
