Covid 19 Update: Senior Phase Courses/Foundation Apprenticeships

As you are all aware, we have now gone into a second Lockdown and for that reason you will be studying from home until at least 1 February 2021.  For some of you, this will mean no change as you have been studying online since the start of your course.  For those of you who have been undertaking practical work, and have been attending College, for the foreseeable future, all of your College course will now take place online.

Most of you are enrolled on School/College Glow groups and Emma will be able to post updates and information about your courses on that platform, please make sure that you check in regularly.  You will also need to check your College e-mail account regularly for updates from your Lecturers and of course, engage with Brightspace.

Face to face classes will take place online in Brightspace on a Wednesday as normal, and you should all log in to your virtual classroom at 0930 on Wednesday morning.  You will have a face to face class at that time, where you will then be given work to complete and asked to return to the classroom later on in the day.  It is really important that you join the classes, as it is exactly the same as being in a classroom with your Lecturer.  If you can, use your camera and microphone as that will make your learning all the more enjoyable.

Advanced Higher and ESOL students may have slightly different class times, so please check with your Lecturers.

If you have any problems, you should contact the following e-mail addresses as soon as possible:

Brightspace help and

It would be a very good idea to try to log into Brightspace before Wednesday morning to make sure that you still have access.  Any problems, please get in touch with us as soon as possible, as we want to make sure that your can continue your studies successfully.

Please remember, that Lecturers will be assessing your work in exactly the same way as your school teachers.  If you are given a piece of work to complete, then it is really important that you do this, as this will form the basis of the evidence needed for your final mark.

As soon as we can, we will restart practical classes and work placements, but in the meantime, you should engage fully with the theory classes which underpin everything you do in a practical session.

If you, or your parent/carer have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask – you can contact us by e-mail on or telephone 01343 576220.  If you are a Foundation Apprentice you can e-mail Cindy or Gillian directly on or .

Best wishes
