What is special about this course?
This is a hands-on course where you will develop practical investigative and experimental skills across a range of topics.
You will develop a scientific understanding of environmental issues and will have the opportunity to investigate key areas of the
living environment.
Throughout this course you will develop key employability skills in the conservation, sustainability, science, and land-based industries.
You will develop problem solving skills in an environmental context both through team working and independent working.
Entry requirements
- Four National 5’s at BBDD or above OR
- A relevant SCQF Level 5 course or equivalent.
- Applications are encouraged from prospective students without the standard entry requirements as listed above.
Course content includes:
- Design landscaped areas
- Earth resources
- Living environment
- Living organisms
- Soils and plant nutrition
- Managing and maintaining an environmental area
- Survey and report on the condition of the environment
- Chemistry in Life
- Sustainable food production
Equipment
You may wish to purchase relevant textbooks. If you are eligible for a bursary these costs will be covered.
PPE and equipment will be provided.

What can I do on completion of my course?
On completion of this course you may wish to progress onto the HNC Applied sciences at UHI Moray or the Environmental Science degree within UHI.
