What is special about this course?

This course offers an introduction to Integrative Healthcare and discovering how complementary therapies can support health, wellbeing and quality of life.

You'll study a range of subjects that develop your understanding of the human body, health, nutrition and wellbeing, while gaining practical experience in massage and soft tissue therapy techniques. The course also helps you build important academic, clinical and professional skills, including resilience, self-awareness and effective study habits.

Combining practical experience with theoretical knowledge, you'll build the confidence to progress into further study or a career in healthcare and wellbeing.

You must accept the requirements of presentation, professionalism, data protection, health & safety and the integrative perspective of complementary and alternative medicine in healthcare and sports therapy.

The ability to communicate with people is also essential.

Couse content includes a variety of topics which will provide you with basic knowledge of:

  • complementary therapies
  • soft tissue therapy
  • nutrition and wellbeing
  • academic and study skills
  • clinical skills, resilience, and self-awareness

These topics enable a smooth transition if you wish to progress into further study.

How will I study my course?

  • Full Time

This is a blended learning course with face-to-face practical classes on campus supplemented with our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).

While we operate a commercial clinic, you are encouraged to find your own clients where possible to meet the specific requirements of the portfolio. 

You will practice what you learn both in the on-campus clinics and at home on friends and family. 

You will learn how to write essays and reports, and put this into practice for assessment, alongside practical assessments.

Fees

Normally, if you are studying full time for the first time and are Ordinarily Resident in Scotland your course fees will be covered through the information you provide on your course application.

If you are studying part time and are on low income or in receipt of certain benefits your course fees may be covered by a fee waiver.

If you are not Ordinarily Resident in Scotland, you may need to pay course fees.

Equipment

You will be required to purchase uniform for this course (approx. £40). If you are eligible for a bursary these costs will be covered.

Uniform required includes:

  • Plain black trousers
  • Plain black shoes
