Serial Killers: Inside the Criminal Mind SCQF Level 5

What is special about this course?

With the rise of people around the world watching and listening to true crime documentaries, the want to understand the minds of serial killers has grown. Our 10-week course gives you the opportunity to get a taster in criminology by exploring the popular subject of serial killer profiling.

Through this course you will be introduced to the psychological theories associated with such criminal behaviours and will cover key aspects such as the nature versus nurture debate.

Our Serial Killer: Inside the Criminal Mind course is ideal if you simply want to learn as a hobby or if you are looking for a gateway into further humanities related studies.

All information covered as part of this course will be available in physical copy so there is no requirement for technological skills. 
 

Entry requirements

You must be a minimum of 16 years of age at the start of the course.

The content of the course may include:
Week 1 - An introduction to psychology theories and the role of profiling
Weeks 2-8 – Profiles of different serial killers, exploring the nature versus nurture arguments
Week 9 – Understanding a crime scene
Week 10 – Collation of learning

Please note:
Due to some sensitive content (murder) this course is for over 16 years only. 

How will I study my course?

  • Evening

This course is delivered face-to-face on campus with a requirement to complete some work at home. If you do not have access to IT you can access our library during the day.

10 Weeks

Thursdays 6pm - 8pm
