As a specialist centre, we are approved to deliver this Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) course, driven by the industry's latest skills needs. 

This course will provide you with the underpinning knowledge and skills required for the motor vehicle engineering industry.

You will learn essential skills including:

  • light vehicle systems and routine maintenance
  • operating principles of light vehicle engines
  • tyres, brakes, steering and suspension systems
  • transmission systems and electrical and electronic systems, including knowledge of carrying out low Voltage operations on, near, or with electric vehicles

Your learning will take place in a practical modern vehicle workshop, with theory lessons taking place in a classroom environment.

This is the ideal course to help you progress into employment, a Modern Apprenticeship, or further study. 

Entry requirements

Three National 4s including English and Maths (National 4 Application of Maths is not accepted)

OR

Engineering: An Introduction (SCQF Level 4)

OR 

IMI Certificate in Transport Maintenance (SCQF Level 4)
