The Essential Massage Skills course is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills required for progression to further and higher academic qualifications in:

  • Integrative Healthcare (inc. Complementary Therapies)
  • Soft Tissue Therapy
  • Sport Therapy

This course is suitable if you have an interest in hands on therapies and/or integrative healthcare or if you are looking to enter the healthcare sector whether you:

  • are a school leaver
  • are returning to education
  • are looking for a career change
  • have an interest in hands on therapies
  • have an interest in Integrative Healthcare

Entry requirements

3 National 4s
satisfactory attainment of a SCQF Level 4 or 5 course (formerly SVQ 1 or 2) or equivalent.

  • Information and Communication Technology (embedded within the programme)


You will be required to purchase a uniform for practical classes.  The cost of this will be included in your bursary. During your course you will carry out practical assessments on clients.  You will be required to source clients for practical assessments from time to time.

Successful completion of this course allows progression into the HNC Soft Tissue Therapy course or Year 1 of the BSC (Hons) Integrative Healthcare course.
