What is special about this course?

This 18-week course provides you with an introduction into careers in complementary therapies.
 
You'll explore a range of subjects that build your understanding of health and wellbeing, including anatomy, nutrition and integrative healthcare. Alongside developing theoretical knowledge, you'll gain practical experience in massage treatments, helping you build confidence in hands-on therapeutic skills and professional practice.
Combining clinical work with classroom study, you'll develop the skills and confidence needed for continued study and career development.

Course content includes a variety of topics which will provide you with basic knowledge of:

  • complementary therapies
  • soft tissue therapy
  • nutrition and wellbeing
  • academic and study skills
  • clinical skills, resilience, and self-awareness

These topics enable a smooth transition if you wish to progress into further study.

How will I study my course?

  • Full Time

This is a blended learning course with face-to-face practical classes on campus supplemented with our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).

While we operate a commercial clinic, you are encouraged to find your own clients where possible to meet the specific requirements of the portfolio. 

You will practice what you learn both in the on-campus clinics and at home on friends and family. 

You will learn how to write essays and reports, and put this into practice for assessment, alongside practical assessments.

Fees

Normally, if you are studying full time for the first time and are Ordinarily Resident in Scotland your course fees will be covered through the information you provide on your course application.

If you are studying part time and are on low income or in receipt of certain benefits your course fees may be covered by a fee waiver.

If you are not Ordinarily Resident in Scotland, you may need to pay course fees.

Equipment

You will be required to purchase uniform for this course (approx. £40). If you are eligible for a bursary these costs will be covered.

Uniform required includes:

  • Plain black trousers
  • Plain black shoes
