Access to Engineering SCQF Level 4
What is special about this course?
This course runs for 18 weeks starting in January and will offer you an overview of the skills required across a variety of engineering sectors. It is ideal for school leavers or career changers. This course consists of one semester of units from our Engineering: An Introduction (SCQF Level 4) course.
It will introduce you to the practical skills required across a range of engineering subjects including mechanical, electrical and electronic and supports you to make more a more educated decision about which engineering career you may wish to follow.

Entry requirements
- Evidence that you can work at National 3/4 level in a mathematics subject.
- You will also be invited to an interview.

Equipment
You will need to purchase PPE materials for this course of approx. £80 including safety workwear and glasses. Other essential PPE will be supplied. If you qualify for a bursary these costs will be covered.

Normally, if you are studying full time for the first time and are Ordinarily Resident in Scotland your course fees will be covered through the information you provide on your course application.
If you are studying part time and are on low income or in receipt of certain benefits your course fees may be covered by a fee waiver.
If you are not Ordinarily Resident in Scotland, you may need to pay course fees.

What can I do on completion of my course?
On completion of this course you may:
- Enter employment in the engineering industry
- Progress onto a Modern Apprenticeship
- Progress into further study at SCQF Level 5 in Engineering Performance or Electronic Engineering subjects
