  • 2 Scottish Highers at grade C or above OR
  • 2 A levels at grade D or above

You will study the following core modules:

  • Knowing yourself – develop self-awareness and personal coaching style
  • Knowing coaching – understand core coaching principles and best practice (double credit)
  • Knowing others – learn to adapt coaching for different athletes and teams

How will I study my course?

  • Part-time
  • This course is mainly delivered in-person, on campus 
  • You will also undertake 2 mandatory work placements, consisting of 6 weeks in semester 1 and 6 weeks in semester 2
  • You will take part in a mandatory in-person induction in the September that your course starts
  • Any online study will be done via the university's virtual learning environment (VLE), with support from your tutors

How long will my course last?

  • Part-time: 32 weeks @ 8 hours per week

The number of hours per week indicates the total number of hours you should dedicate to the course, which includes time spent on online material as well as individual study and research.

Additional costs

Additional costs may include:

  • Sports clothing and footwear suitable for practical coaching sessions
  • Travel costs associated with placements, coaching activities, or visits to sports facilities
  • National Governing Body (NGB) coaching awards or specialist certifications, if you choose to undertake these alongside the course
  • Personal equipment such as a whistle, stopwatch, clipboard, or coaching resources, depending on coaching activities
  • Optional costs for educational visits, workshops, conferences, or enrichment activities
