Broadly comparable to a SCQF Level 5, this UAL Awarding Body Level 2 Award and Diploma in Art and Design is ideal for anyone with an interest in the subject.

With study taking place at Moray School of Art, you will: 

  • explore the materials, methods and processes that support art and design activities 
  • develop the skills, knowledge and understanding required for progression within art and design education 
  • enhance your self-confidence 
  • understand the career demands and opportunities within art and design. 

Providing the perfect opportunity for school leavers or mature learners, this course offers an engaging programme of external speakers, industry relevant projects and, when possible, sector specific field trips.

Entry requirements

  • Three National 4s (including Art and English)
  • You must also submit a portfolio of work.
  • Applications are encouraged from prospective students without the standard entry requirements as listed above.

  • Introduction to materials, processes and technical skills in art and design
  • Introduction to contextual research in art and design
  • Introduction to drawing skills
  • Introduction to communication skills in art and design
  • Solving 2D creative problems
  • Solving 3D creative problems
  • Solving time-based creative problems
  • Developing and producing a personal project in art and design

This is a practical based course with face-to-face classes on campus supplemented with our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).

Normally, if you are studying full time for the first time and are Ordinarily Resident in Scotland your course fees will be covered through the information you provide on your course application.

If you are studying part time and are on low income or in receipt of certain benefits your course fees may be covered by a fee waiver.

If you are not Ordinarily Resident in Scotland, you may need to pay course fees.
