Engineering Practice NC SCQF Level 5
What is special about this course?
This course has been designed for those seeking a career in mechanical engineering or those who are already working in the field to enhance their skills, knowledge and employability in this branch of engineering.
You will take part in a range of workshop activities such as milling, turning and welding alongside the theory and classroom subjects required of engineering professionals in the modern workplace.
On successfully completing this course, you can progress onto a SCQF level 6 programme in an engineering subject or seek employment, typically at technician level as a junior machinist or fabricator / project engineer.
This course is ideal if you are contemplating a career in the manufacturing, fabrication, machining and servicing industries. Alternatively, this course is a good first step towards higher education in the engineering subject area.

- You will gain skills required by 21st century engineering employers.
- This qualification can help with gaining a Modern Apprenticeship, and can map partially to elements within the apprenticeship programme.

Entry requirements
- Three National 4s, including English and Maths OR
- satisfactory attainment of an SCQF Level 4 course or equivalent.

You will need to purchase PPE materials for this course including safety boots and boiler suit (approx. £90). If you qualify for a bursary these costs will be covered.
