This course is designed for beginners in the kitchen to brush up on the foundations of cooking, try out new recipes and learn tips and techniques to give you confidence in the kitchen.
The course is ideal for young, mature and the more life experienced especially if you are living on your own for the first time or would just like to build confidence while enhancing your cooking skills. You will cover everything from soups, fish and vegetables to scones, cakes and breads.

Week 1
Introduction - an overview of working in a kitchen setting, knowledge of recipes, using scales and hospitality terminology.
Week 2
Soups: chunky and smooth - creating flavours in soup.
Week 3
One pot cooking - understanding the cookery of meat.
Week 4
Fish - grilling, poaching and baking fish.
Week 5
Vegetables - preparation and cookery of vegetables
Week 6

Scones, cakes and soda bread - understanding bakery products

If you are studying part time and are on low income or in receipt of certain benefits your course fees may be covered by a fee waiver.
If you are not Ordinarily Resident in Scotland, you may need to pay course fees.
