What is special about this course?
This National 5 Applications of Mathematics course explores the applications of mathematical techniques and skills in everyday situations, including financial matters, statistics, and measurement.
Through real-life contexts you will gain and apply mathematical skills that are relevant to life and work while learning to appreciate the role of mathematical ideas in the world.
Special features:
- Less emphasis is placed on mathematical theory than National 5 Mathematics, and instead focuses on problem solving, risk assessment, and making informed decisions based on mathematical reasoning and the results of computations.
- The skills, knowledge and understanding in the course supports learning in other curriculum areas.
- This qualification is accepted by increasing numbers of Scottish Universities into undergraduate courses in fields such as Care and Education.

- Applications are encouraged from prospective students without the standard entry requirements as listed above.

How will I study my course?
- Part Time
You will study through a combination of face-to-face classes on campus and remote learning via our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), with support from your lecturers.
How long will my course last?
1 YearYou will attend a face-to-face class on campus on Tuesdays from 10am-12pm, plus you will be expected to complete a minimum of 4 hours per week of online study.
