What is special about this course?

This course is ideal if you are looking to develop a broad base of skills in health and social care. Throughout the course you will have the opportunity to engage in a range of activities.

The programme has been designed to allow flexible learning to support a work/life balance of students and recognise wider achievement. 
  
Special features:

  • You will learn underpinning knowledge required to work in a variety of care settings.
  • You will be able to apply knowledge to care scenarios through case studies.
  • You will have the opportunity to undertake a SVQ Level 2 qualification in a care setting that will enable registration with the SSSC.

SVQ Level 2 Assessed in the workplace.

Entry requirements

  • You should be employed or volunteering in a role where you are carrying out relevant tasks and responsibilities which will allow you to gather the required evidence to achieve the SVQ Level 2 qualification.
  • You should already have a valid PVG Scheme membership through your workplace/placement before commencing this course.

How will I study my course?

  • Full Time
  • Work based

You will study through a combination of face-to-face classes on campus, remote learning, and work-based activity. 

You will undertake the SVQ element of your qualification as an employee in your workplace environment. You will be assessed by observation, undertaking day to day tasks for which you are responsible and produce a portfolio.

We offer a blended and flexible learning approach to suit the needs of services and candidates.

On successful completion of this course you may wish to progress on to further study including:

  • NC SCQF Level 6 in Health & Social Care
  • Health and Social Care Essentials (SVQ Level 3) 

Alternatively, you may wish to continue a career in the Health and Social Care sector. Moray has a wide range of employers offering a variety of roles at all levels including:

  • clinical settings
