Rowena joined the BSc (Hons) Integrative Healthcare programme directly into third year in 2018-19, eight years after completing her HND in Complementary Therapies. Rowena believes each experience she has had has led her to where she is now and has worked hard to achieve a first-class honours degree!
Courtney, SCQF Level 6 Sport and Fitness
Congratulations to Courtney Ritchie, our 2020 Further Education Student of the Year! Courtney started on our SCQF Level 6 Sport and Fitness programme in September 2019 and worked hard to achieve her aim of progressing onto the HNC Coaching and Developing Sport, even continuing to engage in her studies whilst pregnant and in hospital!
Sheena, Beauty Therapy
“Returning to education was daunting but I have always wanted to study beauty, so I pushed myself to submit the application. Since starting college my confidence has grown with the support of my lecturers and classmates (that are a mix of ages). I have learnt so much practical techniques and also improved my computing skills."
“If I was to describe my course in 3 words, I would say professional, creative and motivating.”
Elizabeth, BSc Integrative Healthcare
Stephen, Sport and fitness lecturer
From representing Wales in the 2010 Commonwealth Games to having a super-hero power, find out all you need to know about our Sports Lecturer, Stephen!
Laura, BSc (Hons) Integrative Healthcare
“I feel the course is very well designed to facilitate the integration of complementary with conventional healthcare. The content is relevant, wide-ranging and the enthusiasm and passion of the teaching team is inspiring. It takes time to adapt to online learning but once you get yourself into a routine it is much easier to manage.”
Joe, BSc (Hons) Sport and Fitness
“As part of this course we are given the opportunity to coach primary school pupils, I have really benefited from this experience as I am able to put theory in to practice. I also find it rewarding being able to motivate and engage children in having fun while being active.”
Shoina, Complementary Therapies
“Every single element of the course has made it possible for me to become a professional complementary therapist that I aspired to be. I always knew I wanted to run my own practice and I felt the HNC in Complementary Therapies gave me the skills, knowledge and confidence to successfully start my own practice."
Fiona, HNC Coaching and Developing Sport
"Moray College UHI is a comfortable place to study with great facilities and supportive staff. If you like a quiet classroom then it’s an ideal choice as it’s not crowded like other universities.”
Kyle, Hairdressing Day Release Student of the Year 2019
“Doing an apprenticeship at the college is a great way to learn. You get to work with experienced staff who help you to develop those skills required and you earn a wage at the same time.”
Laura, Beauty Therapy lecturer
“I have always had a desire to do beauty therapy and I knew it would offer me lots of employment opportunities. I have been able to see the world while working on cruise ships, work in local industry and open my own business. Now I am teaching the next cohort of therapists to ensure they are gaining the skills, knowledge and experience the industry is looking for.”
Catriona, Sport and Fitness lecturer
“My advice for anyone considering returning to education is to study what you enjoy and are passionate about, then if you work hard you will be successful.”
Teresa, BSc (Hons) Integrative Healthcare
“The experience I have gained from the course as enabled me to set up my own mobile business, work as a therapist for MND Scotland and, following on from my placement, continue to volunteer at a carers service so that carers and staff can enjoy some respite.”
