Flexible learning

We have adopted a very flexible approach to learning, appreciating that people's lives are busy and you might need to fit your studies around other commitments.

You will find that we offer a number of courses on a part-time basis, including evening classes and online learning. We also have short courses including first aid and CPD opportunities that can be studied while in employment.

Increasingly it is possible to learn without formally attending college at all. Open, and distance learning material and electronic communication provide ways for students to gain qualifications without having to attend in person.  To study online you will require access to the internet. If you do not have access to a computer with internet connectivity at home or at work, you will be able to access IT facilities at the College’s Learning Centres.

The Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) used throughout the UHI and many other colleges and universities is called Brightspace. This is a web-based system that enables lecturers to provide online support for teaching and learning. Students can use Brightspace to find announcements, timetables, assignments, internet links, course documents, discussion boards and chat facilities.
