By the end of this Unit candidates should be aware of the importance of the role of IT security and be able to perform information gathering steps, system security testing, system exploits, and access maintenance/track covering techniques and suggest possible countermeasures within a security assessment report. The Unit should introduce the importance of programming/scripting within computing. The Unit will allow candidates to understand the importance of good design and good programming practices within programming. The candidates should consolidate basic programming skills and introduce more complex programming program structures. The candidates should be able demonstrate understanding of the concepts of modularity, parameter passing and objects. (SQA 2019)

The purpose of this Unit is to introduce learners to the fundamental concepts of digital video production, in terms of defining project requirements, planning and production. Practical experience will be gained in the acquiring and editing video data to a given project brief. This Unit will also introduce learners to wider areas of consideration in digital video production in terms of copyright issues.

The Unit is suitable for learners who have limited or no experience of using video authoring packages and who wish to gain or enhance their knowledge and skills in the use of video within digital media. (SQA 2019)

This Unit introduces candidates to fundamental issues in economics with a particular emphasis on the business environment. Candidates will learn about the basic economic problem and how the consumer and other economic agents address this problem. Candidates are introduced to the operation of markets and actions that can be taken to help avoid market failure. The Unit introduces the theory of National Income and the circular flow of income model. 

On completion of this Unit, the candidate should be able to: Explain the allocation of resources within the economy, explain the theory of National Income and explain and evaluate the role of government policy in the UK market (SQA, 2019).
