Hairdressing and Barbering (SCQF Level 4) SVQ

What is special about this course?

This course is an ideal introduction to Hairdressing for school leavers and mature learners. It will provide students with an introduction to assisting with practical hairdressing skills and knowledge for entry into the hairdressing industry. It will also prepare students by providing skills required for entry into SVQ in Hairdressing SCQF Level 5 (formerly SVQ Level 2).

All applicants must attend Course Information Events held prior to the course commencing.

Entry requirements

Working towards 2 National 4s including English or equivalent e.g. may include relevant attainment at National 3.

• Prepare for Hair Services and Maintain Work Areas

• Contribute to the Development of Effective Working Relationships

• Blow Dry Hair

• Shampoo and Condition Hair

• Assist with Colouring and Lightening Services

• Assist with Salon Reception Duties

• Cosmetology: Hairdressing Practical Skills (Intermediate 1)

Further study may include SVQ in Hairdressing SCQF Level 5 (formerly SVQ Level 2) via full time or day release route. 

Employment within the hairdressing industry as a Salon Junior.
