Beauty Therapy (SCQF Level 5) SVQ

What is special about this course?

This is the course for you if you want a good grounding within the beauty industry sector.

Covering all the essential skills of a beauty therapist, this course allows for progression onto a further level of study or to specialise in areas such as make-up or lashes. 

You will develop your skills in a training setting before moving on to fee paying clients in an open salon.   The realistic working environment will provide the opportunity to gain experience and confidence in your practical abilities whilst also giving a sound knowledge of the day to day workings of a salon.

Entry requirements

3 National 4s, one of which must be English
satisfactory attainment of a SCQF Level 4 course or equivalent.

Applications are encouraged from mature students who do not possess formal qualifications but have the skills to meet the academic demands of the course.

• Carry Out Waxing Services
The above units are inclusive of related anatomy and physiology, health and safety, retailing and marketing elements.

Students will take part in work experience during the course.

Students must be prepared to practice all treatments on each other prior to working on fee paying clients.

How will I study my course?

  • Full Time

Teaching will consist of face to face and online activities including virtual classrooms.

Portfolio, Client sessions, Blogs, Online tests.

Please note, students must be prepared to practice all hands-on treatments on each other prior to working on clients.

What can I do on completion of my course?

SVQ in Beauty Therapy SCQF Level 6 (formerly SVQ Level 3) or Access to Integrative Healthcare and Therapies.
Employment as a junior beauty therapist in beauty clinics/salons and retail. Other opportunities may be found in the field of beauty therapy, leisure, retail and the commercial make-up industry.
