Hospitality: Platinum (Specialist) SCQF Level 6
What is special about this course?
Hospitality is the 3rd largest private sector employer in the UK and businesses which make up the sector include: hotels, restaurants, coffee shops, pubs and bars, leisure parks, stadia, nightclubs, contract caterers, food service operators, entertainment and visitor attractions.
This specialised course is ideal if you have an existing hospitality qualification or currently work in the industry and wish to upskill.
The advanced practical skills and theoretical knowledge will be concentrated in your chosen area of specialism allowing you to contextualise what you have learned.
You will be expected to be able to draw conclusions and suggest solutions in different situations. Written and verbal communication will also be more complex at this level.

Four National 5s, one of which must be English and relevant work experience
satisfactory attainment of a SCQF Level 6 course
Applications are encouraged from mature students who do not possess formal qualifications but have skills to meet the academic demand of the course.

Kit required includes knives, textbook, equipment and uniforms. College Bursary (if successfully applied for) will pay for all kit required.
How will I study my course?
- Full Time
Face-to-face teaching based in the Hospitality & Tourism Academy at Moray College UHI. There will also be elements of online delivery taking place where necessary.
External training and industry visits will form part of the delivery and there will be external engagement through our Hospitality Association Moray (HAM) partnership and external associations.

What can I do on completion of my course?
Employment opportunities on successful completion of this course are likely to be in roles in specialist careers in Professional Cookery, Menu Development and Financial Controls alongside Professional Bar, Food and Event Services.
Alternatively, you can progress on to an HNC (SCQF Level 7) course.
