What is special about this course?

This part time course will provide you with specialist skills and knowledge to enable you to become a chef or progress to a more senior chef's role.

If you are currently working in a cafe, hotel or restaurant, or looking for your first job as a Baker, this qualification can either be used as an entry point to the industry or as an additional skill that can be added to existing hospitality qualifications.

You will gain a high standard of bakery and patisserie skills and have the option to learn other workplace essentials such as hygiene and health & safety in a commercial kitchen environment.

• This course is ideal if you have a keen interest in Bakery & Patisserie and aspire to be a chef
• If you are currently a chef in industry the course will allow you to refresh your skills and knowledge
• You can study flexibly part-time across the duration of 60 hours at the Hospitality and Tourism Academy
• You will learn relevant industry skills
• You will undertake hands-on practical training
• You will gain a recognised City & Guilds qualification

Entry requirements

Relevant SCQF Level 5 award.

Students with appropriate industrial experience will also be considered.

Produce Paste Products
This unit provides you with the opportunity to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills to prepare, cook and finish paste products for service in restaurants and to paying customers.

Produce Fermented Dough Products
This unit covers preparing, cooking and finishing of fermented dough products for service in restaurants and to paying customers.


No equipment or kit requirements.

  • Part Time

Face-to-face.  Delivered over 60 hours with a qualified Chef Instructor.

Part time: 60 hours (Cost £110)
