Art and Design UAL Level 3 Diploma and Diploma SCQF Level 6
What is special about this course?
This University of the Arts London Level 3 Award and Diploma in Art and Design has been designed to provide the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to develop an extensive portfolio of visual work for application to degree programmes across the UK, including BA (Hons) Fine Art at Moray School of Art.
You will develop skills in a number of disciplines including life drawing, digital and dark room photography, painting, digital imaging, sculpture and 2D/3D design.
You will also develop critical and analytical skills through research into the work of other artists with opportunities to attend visiting artist’s talks and gallery visits.
You will have the freedom to decide on the specific focus for your projects and portfolio.
Moray School of Art strives to offer an engaging programme of external speakers, industry relevant projects and, when possible, sector specific field trips.

Entry requirements
- Four National 5s at BBDD or above (must include Art and English) OR
- Merit or above at UAL Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design (SCQF Level 5)
- You will also be required to attend an interview and submit a portfolio of work.
- Applications are encouraged from prospective students without the standard entry requirements as listed above.

- Introduction to critical and contextual awareness in art and design
- Introduction to materials, processes and technical skills in art and design
- An integrated approach to 2D problem solving in art and design
- An integrated approach to 3D problem solving in art and design
- An integrated approach to time-based problem solving
- Developing an art and design project
- Opportunities for progression in art and design
Equipment
You will need a starter materials pack for this course. These packs are also available to buy on site (approx. £120), as well as other materials from our small shop. If you qualify for a bursary these costs will be covered.

This is a practical based course with face-to-face classes on campus supplemented with our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).

Normally, if you are studying full time for the first time and are Ordinarily Resident in Scotland your course fees will be covered through the information you provide on your course application.
If you are studying part time and are on low income or in receipt of certain benefits your course fees may be covered by a fee waiver.
If you are not Ordinarily Resident in Scotland, you may need to pay course fees.

What can I do on completion of my course?
On successful completion of this course you may progress on to BA (Hons) Fine Art at Moray School of Art or another creative course within UHI.
Entry to degree courses is by selection based on the strengths of your portfolio produced and your academic qualifications.
