Using Technology: Staying Legal and Safe Online SCQF Level 4

What is special about this course?

Students will learn about how to protect themselves online from the likes of phishing emails, retail data hacks and identity theft.  They will understand how criminals use social engineering to trick individuals into disclosing personal data. They will also explore our current Data Protection laws and how legitimate companies are regulated in their processing of our private information.

Special features:

  • the course is custom-built on our Brightspace VLE platform, meaning you can learn at the time, pace and place that suits you best
  • help you identify scams and threats that are a serious threat to your bank balance!
  • grow in your understanding of what Data Protection means and why it matters?

All businesses and employers are threatened by cyber-criminals who will exploit any weakness in an organisation.  They need everyone to be clued-up about, for example, how to spot a dodgy email because if one worker’s account is compromised hackers can much more easily gain access to everyone else. Studying this short course will prepare you for the world of work.
