Hospitality: Ready, Steady, Bake SCQF Level 4

What is special about this course?

This short, full-time SCQF Level 4 Bakery course is an ideal starting point for anyone with an interest in baking or working in a kitchen.

The course will focus on practical skills, at an introductory level and will feature hands-on, fun and varied activities with expert instruction from highly experienced Hospitality and Tourism Academy (HATA) Lecturers.

The course will be run over 3 days each week.  The core units cover baking, bread-making, cake decorating and pastry.  Time will be spent on understanding preparation, cookery processes and food hygiene and you will get the chance to work on developing a product of your own.

Entry requirements

Where relevant, applicants should be working towards two National 4s including English or equivalent e.g. may include relevant attainment at National 3.

Applications are also encouraged from adult returners with no qualifications or those in industry who are looking to learn new skills or gain additional qualifications.

  • Food Hygiene for the Hospitality Industry
  • Cookery Processes: An Introduction
  • Health and Food Technology: Food Product Development

The course may feature local visits, guest lectures, local case studies and involvement and incentives from local businesses.


Students will be provided with all necessary uniform (PPE) and with all necessary equipment.
