Future Focus SCQF Level 4
What is special about this course?
This course is designed for those who may be unsure about their future studies and would like options to progress into a specific course that you find an interest in. The focus of this course is to give you the opportunity to sample a range of subject areas where you will choose two subjects to study alongside the core element.

Entry requirements
Evidence that you can work at National 4 level in English and Maths.
Alternatively, you can be referred through Secondary School, SDS or other agencies.
Course content includes:
You will choose two of the subjects below, and study these for three hours each per week:
- Art
- Digital Media
- Construction
- Childcare
- Horticulture
- Hospitality
Each week you will also study the following (incorporating Core Skills):
- Training and Development (2 hours)
- SQA Employability (SCQF Level 3/4) (2 hours)
- SQA Health & Wellbeing (SCQF Level 3) (1 hour)
- SQA Personal Development (SCQF Level 4/5) (2 hours)
- Social Sciences (2 hours)
- Course Support (1 hour)
- Sport (1 hour)
- Business (1 hour)
Additional routes may become available subject to demand.
While studying Future Focus you will work with 3rd sector organisations, primary and secondary schools as part of project implementation.
Equipment
Depending on which subjects you choose to study, you may be required to purchase PPE. If you are eligible for a bursary, these costs will be covered.
How will I study my course?
- Full Time
You will study through a combination of face-to-face classes on campus and remote learning, where some lectures and sessions are timetabled remotely via video conferencing and our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), with support from your lecturers.

Normally, if you are studying full time for the first time and are Ordinarily Resident in Scotland your course fees will be covered through the information you provide on your course application.
If you are studying part time and are on low income or in receipt of certain benefits your course fees may be covered by a fee waiver.
If you are not Ordinarily Resident in Scotland, you may need to pay course fees.

What can I do on completion of my course?
Upon completion of this course you may progress onto a SCQF Level 5 course or a Modern Apprenticeship.
You may also enter employment in relation to the subjects you studied as part of this course.
