What is special about this course?

The Food & Beverage Service Skills 1 course incorporates a City & Guilds Level 1 Award in Introduction to Professional Food and Beverage Skills. 

This course is ideal if you are interested in working in front of house in a restaurant, as it covers all aspects of food and beverage service.

You will learn key skills and knowledge required to offer a high level of service in a variety of hospitality environments.  You will also gain an understanding of the role and expectations that any future employer will expect of you.

This qualification can either be used as an entry point to the industry or as an additional skill that can be added to existing hospitality qualifications.

Food and Beverage Service Skills 

This unit provides the opportunity for you to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills in serving food and beverages for counter and table service.

This qualification is assessed by a practical assessment, including a short written test covering both knowledge and practical skills.

You will develop core and essential skills during this award, you will have written and verbal communication in the restaurant as well as cash and card transactions to evidence for numeracy, ICT will be operating the EPOS system and also building a portfolio of evidence.

Essential skills will be highlighted through work in the realistic work environment, team working, presentation and time management.

What can I do on completion of my course?

On successful completion of this course, you could go on to study Level 2 Diploma in Food and Beverage Service or progress to another Hospitality and Tourism Academy course.

You could also enter the workplace as Front of House staff at entry level.
