Future Focus SCQF Level 4

What is special about this course?

The focus of this one-year full time course is to give you the opportunity to sample a range of subject areas.

You will choose two subjects to study alongside the core element.

This course is designed to give you options to progress into a specific area/course that the you find an interest in.

Entry requirements

You should be working towards three National 4's including English and Maths.

Alternatively, you can be referred through Secondary School, SDS or other agencies.

Couse content includes:
You will choose two of the subjects below, and study these for three hours each per week:

  • Art
  • Digital Media
  • Construction
  • Childcare
  • Horticulture
  • Hospitality


Each week you will also study the following (incorporating Core Skills):

  • Training and Development (2 hours)
  • SQA Employability (SCQF Level 3/4) (2 hours)
  • SQA Health & Wellbeing (SCQF Level 3) (1 hour)
  • SQA Personal Development (SCQF Level 4/5) (2 hours)
  • Social Sciences (2 hours)
  • Course Support (1 hour)
  • Sport (1 hour)
  • Business (1 hour)

Additional routes may become available subject to demand.

While studying Future Focus you will work with 3rd sector organisations, primary and secondary schools as part of project implementation.

Equipment

All personal protective equipment (PPE) kit required will be supplied through bursary if you receive one.

How will I study my course?

Coronavirus (COVID-19) update

Our priority is to provide a safe learning environment for all students and staff. We will continue to review government guidance as lockdown measures shift over the next few months and will inform you of any further changes to the information provided below about your course. You will study the course through our blended learning approach. In semester one, September 2020, the theory elements will be delivered mainly online through a combination of video conference seminars, tutor-supported study and self-directed study using the university's virtual learning environment. You will also have the opportunity to do an online induction at the start of the course. On-campus activities, practical sessions and placements will be introduced in line with the developing Scottish Government public health measures and guidance, including social distancing.

A mix of face-to-face teaching and online delivery.

What can I do on completion of my course?

Successful completion of this course can lead you to studying an SCQF Level 5 course from one of the subject areas at Moray College UHI or a Modern Apprenticeship.

You may also enter employment in relation to the subjects you studied as part of this course.
