What is special about this course?
This Learning Step is ideal as a gentle introduction to Microsoft Access.
Beginning with the basics you are gently introduced to Databases. With simple exercises to increase your confidence with the software.
More and more jobs now require IT Skills in a wide range of areas. Having the Learning Steps qualification shows employers that you are willing to improve your IT skills.
This course can either be studied from home or in college at your own pace, either through the day or at an evening session. Our IT Trainers are here to provide support for you when required.
No formal entry qualifications or previous experience with computers required.
Course content includes:
- Create and use tables
- Create and use queries to search your database
- Design a simple report
Office 365 software is required for study which is available as a free download for students.

Flexible start dates. You can study for up to 20 hours from enrolment and can be started at any time in the year.
The good news is that depending on your personal circumstances there are a wide range of bursaries, grants and allowances available to fund your college studies.
What can I do on completion of my course?
After completing Step 1 you can progress on to Step 2 or a Learning Step in a different program. Your IT Trainer can help you decide.
You also have the option to progress to the ICDL or the Computing with Digital Media SCQF Level 5 course.
Studying this short course also demonstrates to employers a commitment to learn new skills.
