Acting and Theatre Performance SCQF Level 6

What is special about this course?

Working in partnership with Out of The Darkness Theatre Company, Elgin’s professional theatre organisation, you will develop a range of skills in acting, performance, movement and technical stage skills.

This course is suitable if you are considering further study in acting and drama at HNC or degree level, or if you are considering employment in the theatre or related industries.

Creativity, self-awareness, communication and team work are just some of the skills you will develop in a realistic setting. You will also gain experience of working under direction.

You will learn via a relaxed and effective teaching style

You will have the opportunity to take part in performances at college and in the community

You will gain experience of integrating acting, movement and voice skills and production
 

Entry requirements

You will audition with members of staff from Out of the Darkness Theatre Company.

You will also need to demonstrate appropriate understanding and skills to meet the demands of the course. 

Applications are encouraged from mature students and individuals who do not possess formal qualifications but have the skills to meet the academic demands of the course.

  • Theatre Performance

How will I study my course?

Coronavirus (COVID-19) update

Our priority is to provide a safe learning environment for all students and staff. We will continue to review government guidance as lockdown measures shift over the next few months and will inform you of any further changes to the information provided below about your course. You will study the course through our blended learning approach. In semester one, September 2020, the theory elements will be delivered mainly online through a combination of video conference seminars, tutor-supported study and self-directed study using the university's virtual learning environment. You will also have the opportunity to do an online induction at the start of the course. On-campus activities, practical sessions and placements will be introduced in line with the developing Scottish Government public health measures and guidance, including social distancing.
  • Full Time

Face-to-face teaching, supported with Virtual Learning Environment engagement.

Practical performance under supervised conditions, open & closed book assessments.
